Purchasing

-What are the file types, size and resolution? 
We provide repeat image files in EPS (vector) and tiff (bitmap) formats. The tiff files are full size at 300-350 dpi, and the EPS files can be sized to any size and resolution with no loss of detail.  A vector-editing program is required to resize and edit EPS files.  For more on what to send see our submission guide.

-Where do I find my receipt for a purchase?
Your receipt for purchase will be emailed to you via Paypal, Inc.

-What to do if I have a problem downloading?
If you have any problems downloading any patterns, please email support@repeatpatterns.com with a brief explanation of your problem.

-Is there a time limit to download a purchased repeat?
The limit for non-exclusive purchases is 24 hours from time of payment. Exclusive patterns will be available for 30 days.

-How long can I reserve an exclusive repeat in my shopping cart? 
An exclusive repeat will remain reserved in your shopping cart for 1 hour. At that point you will be required to decide to purchase the repeat, or at that time it will be removed from your cart, and returned to it’s former place on the website.

-How do I download a repeat pattern?
Sign up for a membership then log in. Find patterns you like then simply click the download button.

-What are the accepted methods of payment?
Repeatpatterns.com uses PayPal so you will have many options when choosing a method of payment.

 

Technical Issues

-What do I do if I have forgotten my member name and/or password?
Simply click on "forgot my password" link and follow the instructions.

- How do I change my member name, password, address, or phone number?
You can make changes in your account settings. Follow the on-screen instructions.

 

Search

-How do I use the repeat patterns search engine?
You can either type in your keywords into the search box or click on one of the keywords in the keyword cloud below the search box on the search page.

 

Contributor Information

-How do I become a contributor to repeat patterns?
 It’s easy. Just sign up and follow the instructions. Read the file submission guide so you’ll know what to send.  When your images are ready just follow the upload instructions.

-I sent an image. What’s next?
Our submissions team will make sure your image follows the guidelines. If so then they’ll assess a price for your submission. The image will be made available on line when your emailed receipt of your consent of that price.

-Are there any member fees? 
There are never any fees to become or remain a member of repeat patterns.

-How do I upload images?
Click "Browse" within the upload window, select your artwork file, and click upload.

-What is the image approval process and how long is the review for a submitted repeat?
The image approval review time will vary upon each submission. Our approval process is complex, and involves reviewing such subjective qualities as complexity, originality, and the current desirability of the subject matter.  Other factors may include size, and number of colors, with a limited, balanced, and organized palette being more desirable than a larger palette of colors.

-What percentage does the contributor receive for the sale of a repeat?
For exclusive sales percentage starts at 50% and there are sales bonuses and other ways to build up to 60%.
For Royalty free stock repeats the percentages start at 25% and with sales bonuses you can build up to 40%.

-How much will my images sell for?
There are many factors that will decide the price your image will post at. Some of these factors are complexity, originality, and the current desirability of the subject matter.  Other factors may include size, and number of colors, with a limited, balanced, and organized palette being more desirable than a larger palette of colors.

-How and when can I get paid?
Checks are sent out for the previous month's payouts. For example:  On the 15th of March, payments will be sent for February downloads.  If during any period you haven't reached the minimum payout, your earnings will be brought forward to the next pay period. When the total of your earned income on repeatpatterns.com reaches $100 USD or more, a check for the total earned amount of that month will automatically be mailed. If you decide to end your membership at repeat patterns when your earned income total is below $75, you will forfeit any earned income at that time. Contributors earning above $600 USD will be asked to fill out a W-9 with instructions on where to send it before checks will be sent.

- After an exclusive pattern has sold, can I re-use it?
 No, once an exclusive repeat pattern has sold, you have transferred all rights to the purchaser, and may not use it again in any form.  It is important to remember this before making the decision to sell a pattern exclusively, and to be certain you are comfortable with this decision, and satisfied with the posted price.

- What happens after an exclusive pattern has sold?
The repeat will no longer show up in the search fields and will no longer be viewed by prospective buyers. Repeatpatterns.com holds a copy of the file for the buyer’s protection. The file will be used as a cross reference only. That way if someone tries to resubmit it we’ll have a copy of it on record and it will be detected. Thus protecting the buyer’s exclusive rights to the image.

-Do the images have to belong to me?
Yes, any images that you submit must belong 100% to you. We expect that anything you submit is entirely your own creation, and will take steps to remove from the website any contributor that does not follow this rule.  Nothing should be traced from a source that is not your own, and any photographs used should be only photographs taken by the artist. 

-Does Repeat Patterns protect my images from theft?
No submitted repeats are displayed in their entirety on the website. Customers only have access to the full repeat after they have paid for and downloaded it.

-Can I remove images from Repeat Patterns once submitted?
Yes, the contributor may remove submitted images at any time. Be sure to note that Repeatpatterns.com will hold any removed image that has sold in a file away from public view for no more than 2 years.

-Can I remove a pattern to make small changes?
Yes, the changed pattern must be re-submitted, and go through the approval process again in order for them to return to the website.  Repeat patterns cannot guarantee that they will pass the approval process again, or that they will post at the same price as they did previously.

-How do I deactivate a pattern?
If for any reason you need a pattern to be deactivated you need to Email a “deactivation request” to rpadminteam@repeatpatterns.com. Be sure to put “deactivation request” in the emails subject. We’ll need your sign in name, image ID number and the name of the pattern and a brief reason for the request.  We will then contact you to make sure the request is valid and take necessary steps from there.
